We’re Freedom Socks! And, after another random “season break”, we’re back. This week we run over whats been in the freedom news recently, get all angry about normal people, do an interview with one of our own hosts about the AGPLmail project. Then, we talk about free software and anarchy, before finishing off with a piece of listner feedback.
00:00 Intro - we shake it up a little (lyrics)
So, after another delay, we have a new episode. We talk about the latest news, and are impressed by the FSF’s new priority list. Then we get realllly angry about EULAs in our two minutes hate. After this, we do our first in a series of reviews of free software media players. And finally, we discuss the impact of the recession on the free software economy.
Download as ogg vorbis or mp3. Also see the corresponding forum thread.
So, we’re back after our little break, with better sound quality. We sink our teeth right into the latest and greatest news, including the amazing news from SGI. Then, we send a shipment of hate to the evil DRM fiends at Spore, review TuxGuitar and cleverly discuss the links between Science and free software. Finally, we wrap up the show with some listener feedback.
I’m sorry to say that the podcast is missing a week, whilst we look for new sound recording equipment. Hopefully, though, this will mean better sound quality. Also, if you sent an email to our new address, you may have to resend it, as we have had some forwarding issues (which are fixed now). See you next week.
This week is going to be a little different - the show is longer for a start. We cover this weeks news and express our anger in the Two Minutes Hate as usual, but we also have an interview with Matt Lee from the FSF, mainly about the the recent Stephen Fry video. Remember, you can discuss the show on IRC, the forum or email us feedback.

1:12:00 Feedback - Tim Dobson has remixed our theme, Fred Phillips calls us Freedom Haters and Ben Asselstine points us to revealingerrors.com
The sixth sockload of freedom from Freedom Socks. We decide last weeks episode never happened, turn into GNU/Freedom nutters, go over the news, unleash even more hate than usual. We also discuss free software around the world, and how to make people care about free software, before finishing off by reading some feedback.
If you’re young and in the northwest of England, you should go to DFEY! If you’re in Canada, you should go to Ontario Linux Fest.

The fifth episode of Freedom Socks! This episode is a bit different to say the least. Joe is on holiday at the moment, so this episode features a friend called Jamie. Unfortunately, the pesky echo has also snuck back in a little. So, basically, this show is not representitive of the others, although we’d love to hear your feedback.
The fourth installment of Freedom Socks! We go over this weeks news, review dvorak and the naughty ktouch and vent our fustration with jokosher. Then, we review some Linux games, and discuss their ethics, before finishing off with some of your feedback.
00:00 Intro - we have a slogan; I violated the GPL, by not having sources on my repo; Tuna did a talk at OSCON, followed by ToonsOnLinux having a referendum

43:10 Clever Segment - Ethics of Games
56:40 The End
Another installment of Freedom Socks! Jokosher is still being a bith, so we probably still have echo, and countless other problems with the recording. However, we still talk about a lot of interesting stuff including:
22:40 BBC Backstage
26:40 Troll Watch - anti-women trolls
34:50 Two Minutes hate - Why we wish the music and movie industries would hurry up and die
37:50 Clever Segment - How far should freedom go?
Yes, thats right, another Episode of Freedom Socks!!! This time we’ve recorded with Jokosher, so hopefully we’ll have slightly better audio quality. However, Jokosher has been a bit of a bitch, so there may still be hickups - and there is still a bit of echo in places

We are Freedom Socks, free from the ground up!! A podcast about GNU/Linux and free software in general. The name is a bit contradictory, since if you truly want freedom, you'd best not wear socks :D. However, we do have a rather cool penguin-in-a-sock mascot.
The podcast is hosted by Ben Webb and Joe Henthorn, both 17 and from Manchester, England.
Ben is the absolute freedom nut, who is currently starting to use gNewSense.
Joe, who Ben introduced to GNU/Linux, is currently running Ubuntu.
We like to keep our show interesting and amusing, with segments like the Two Minutes Hate and the Clever Segment. So, if you have any suggestions, comments, fanmail e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit our irc channel - #freedomsocks on irc.freenode.net
